Workshops on a Budget

schedule a workshop at your churchYou'd love to have a WorshipTeamCoach event at your church, but not sure it's in the budget?

Below are some ideas to creatively fund workshops and seminars at your church. These are a jumping off point - be creative. And don't hesitate to contact Jon to talk about what might work for your church.

The fastest way to get cash.

Charge a "voluntary" fee to offset costs.

Invite other ministries within the church.

Raise funds strategically.

Include other like-minded churches.

Host an open event.

Create a weekend event.

Knock off a convenience store. (I didn't say all these were good ideas.)

Charge a "voluntary" fee to offset costs.
You'll be surprised how willing people are to invest in their development as a worship team member. Also, encourage those with the measn to give a little more to cover those who cannot pay.

Invite other ministries within the church.
The Team Building and Loving Jesus More Than Ministry events can also include other teams and ministries within the church (e.g. children or youth ministry workers; elders/deacons; etc.) All of the content is transferrable, and groups can break up to discuss how it applies in their particular ministry. This lets you get more bang for your buck (and you can finally dip into the youth pastor's budget.)

Raise funds strategically.
Look at fund-raising events that fit the culture of your people, but also don’t require a lot of extra time for worship team members. They will be making a significant investment of time into the workshop or seminar, so try not to burn them out raising funds for it. Look for people in your church gift and passion for organizing fundraising events. They're there. Just ask around.

Include other like-minded churches.
Invite churches from your denomination or community that could benefit. You can establish a cost sharing with them, or simply charge a flat fee per church or person. You might even be able to cover all the expenses this way. Don't feel guilty - you'll have invested time and energy to organize and host the event. Most people would gladly pay a fee than do that.

Host an open event.
Many of the workshops and seminars will draw people from 2 or 3 hour radius, depending on the area. You can open this up to churches in your region. This works particularly well for Worship Guitar Workshops, but it can also be effective for other events. Jon will assist you along the way in promotion, registration and ticket sales. This can also be used to raise money for your ministry. Any revenue that comes in beyond the set costs can be funneled back into your ministry for needed equipment or future training events.

Create a weekend event.
Schedule Jon to come in for a weekend to do multiple events. Host an "open event" to help cover the costs for the weekend. You can then plan other events where Jon will be solely focused with just your team.
